The New Species of Leaf-Nosed Bats

New bat species discovered in Vietnam, has a peculiar shape of the face with hair and bumps that resemble leaves. When scientists first saw leaf-nosed bats Griffin in Chu Mom Ray National Park in 2008, almost any animal that has been identified with known species, the large leaf-nosed bats, said Vu Dinh Thong, from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology in Hanoi.

However, Vu Dinh Thong and his team, thinking that the bat is still a chance as a species new to science, using nets to catch some of these domestic animals.  "When arrested, some bats with similar body size, the large leaf-nosed bats, reacted very angrily. Leaf-nosed bat, but Griffin seems to be quite soft," he said.

The team noted the frequency sonar that bats were captured and took tissue samples from several specimens. The results revealed that the bats removing the call at a different frequency of large leaf-nosed bat, which suggests that the specimen was a new species.

According to researchers, the genetic results confirm that the species was named Hipposideros griffini then it has different genetics. So far, only little is known about Hipposideros griffini. Like all leaf-nosed bats, mammals, newly discovered to have a strange shape that resembles a leaf in his nose.

But the peculiar shape of the nose was actually serves to help in sending sound waves and listening to the echoes that bounce off objects, including prey. Bats are also found only in two national parks, although further research may reveal more about the creature's habitat.

Lion So Aggressive After the Full Moon

A study reveals that humans have a greater risk eaten by lions after the full moon occurs. This discovery comes from studies in Africa on 500 attacks by lions on humans. A fairy story explains that the moon is a sign of crime or disaster. It is associated with werewolves and vampires.

Scientists have studied the records of the 500 attacks in the village singan Tanzania since 1988 to 2009. More than two-thirds, the victim was killed and turned into dinner the king of the jungle at night. Usually this occurs at 22:00 and during the full moon began to fade with a darker light. The lion is a very good hunter animal in a dark place and allow them to surprise their prey. When the full moon and they were all hungry after the full moon immediately ended their search for prey, in which man is one of their targets. This is a peak that is harmful to humans, especially the day after the full moon.

This pattern appears clearly when the researchers compared levels of attack to the moon phases. The attack was one-third more often during the second half of the cycle, when there is little or no moonlight at all. "People are beginning to be in danger during the 0-4 days of activity of the full moon, when the moon is close and the full moon occurs shortly after sunset," said Dr. Craig Packer, a lion from the University of Minnesota College of Biological Sciences in the United States.

Packer also explained that the danger was eventually declined as the normal and the nights when the moon looks bright. Lion attacks also increased during the rainy season. At that time, the moon is more likely obscured by clouds. "These findings provide new insight into human attitudes toward the moon. So we are always exposed to the risk of predators during the waning moon," the researchers said.

A Strange Animal Intangible Aliens

An animal that has no feathers on his head, big eyes like a monkey makes Henan residents panic and fear because they think the animal is an alien. A mother of Household, Xiping Mao turned on the alarm in his house after finding the creature who looks emaciated and malnourished like this to steal cucumbers from her flat.

"I find that scary alien-looking animals and animal species I have not seen this before," said Xiping. Local police could not believe what is said Mao. Until the animal is trapped in a dishwasher basket. After police arrived, Xiping immediately bring one of the policemen to see where the animal. Finally they decided to take him to the police station. Currently animal-sized 46 cm was still checked and identified local scientists. "The animal looks very thin so that the ribs easily visible through his flesh," said researcher in Henan Province, central China.

New Species of Forest Rats

Seven new species of forest rats was discovered by scientists in Luzon, the Philippines's largest island, says a new study suggests. The discovery of this new species of forest rats, increased the number of native animals on the island of Luzon.

According to scientists, the seven strains of mice is part of a subgenus called Megapomys, which is part of the genus Apomys. These mice are relatively large, weighing approximately 65-110 grams. Two of the seven new types of mice were found on Mount Tapulao in Zambales Mountains, and two are found on Mount Banahaw, an active volcano in the Philippines, two more in the mountains Mingan in the province of Aurora, and the remainder was found in the mountains of Sierra Madree in northeast Luzon.

"These mice were indeed found in the mountainous region. They usually avoid humans and are harmless. They used to eat earthworms and seeds," said Lawrance Heaney of the Filed Museum in Chicago. Lawrance said that despite its small size, these animals are an important part of animal diversity in the Philippines.

New Fish Species in the Sea of Bali

Scientists from Conservation International claims to have discovered eight new species and one new species of coral in the waters of Bali. The new species, including eels and fish, damsel, that is a small fish with bright colors that are often wandering around stoney corals.

"We have conducted marine surveys in 33 places around the island of Bali. We have identified 952 fish, coral, and of which we found 8 new species,"said lead researcher Mark Van Nydeck Erdmann. The survey was conducted in several well-known tourist areas like Bali Tulamben is famous as the favorite dive sites, Nusa Dua, Gilimanuk and Pemuteran, at depths of 10 to 70 kilometers.

Mark claims to have not provided a name for the eight new species. But they are included in the genus Siphamia, Heteroconger, Apogon, Parapercis, Meiacanthus, Manonichthys, Grallenia and Pseudochromis. In the survey for two weeks, the research team also discovered a new species of coral reef Euphyllia or foam

Rising Sea Temperatures of Fish Mortality

A study shows that rising sea temperatures at random in some parts of the world are able to reduce the population, inhibits growth, increases stress and the risk of fish mortality. The study was based on peneilitan Australian scientists, who focused on Morwong fish species in the Tasman Sea, which lies between Australia and New Zealand.

The scientists found that fish growth Morwong in some areas has slowed down after sea temperatures rise 2 degrees Celsius over the last 60 years in the Tasman Sea, one of the earth in the southern part of the level of the seawater temperature rises fast enough.

Effect of temperature changes also affect other types of fish and coral reefs, which causes a loss in fisheries sector. "Normally, cold-blooded animals respond to warm conditions with increasing growth as temperature rises,"said Ron thresher from the research agency CSIRO. "Through this research, we found evidence of slower growth and rising levels of stress in fish that live in the sea with a temperature threshold," said Ron.

Ancient Shark Found in Mining

A miner found a fossil bones of ancient shark jaw in a mine in central Kentucky. The fossil will be on display at the University of Kentucky. The fossil was found in Webster County, Kentucky, by the age of 25 years old miner named Jay Wright who worked in the mines as deep as 210 meters.

Fossil jawbone 300 million-year-old is believed to come from an ancient shark species that formerly Edestus swim in the sea, which is now its territory into regions of Kentucky. "Jeez, what is this?" Jay Wright said, when I first found the fossil.

Jerry Weisenfluh, Associate Director of the Kentucky Geological Survey in Lexington, Kentucky, says that finding fossils with large size is quite rare. The fossil is now being exhibited in building the Mines and Minerals, England.

New Species of Fish Pari Pancake

Scientists say they have discovered two new species of stingrays in the Amazon rainforest and call it a fish Pari Pancake. The nickname was taken because of its shape resembling a pancake. Fish is also a new type of rays that are found within the last 20 years in the Amazon, "says Nathan Lovejoy from the University of Toronto and Marcelo Rodrigues de Carvalho from the University of Sao Paolo.

The new species discovered by scientists is called Heliotrygon Gomesi and Heliotrygon Rosai. In addition to the pancake-like shape, the two new species of stingrays are bulky and have spines on their tails.

Most of these specimens come from areas Rio Nanay, near lquitos, Peru. The findings also add to the number of species of stingrays in tropical regions such as Mexico, West Indies and Central America. "The most important of this invention is to notice that there are many fish in the Amazon that have not been investigated and found," says Nathan Lovejoy.

Oil Companies Discovered Fossil Ankylosaurus

An oil company workers in Canada were surprised to find dinosaur fossils in northern Alberta. In fact, hundreds of years ago, the area is covered by water. "We never found dinosaur fossils in this location. Therefore, this area originally is the sea. Most of us have encountered was invertebrate species such as clams and ammonite," said curator of Alberta's Royal Tyrell Museum of Donald Henderson.

Fossils found in it a kind of Ankylosaurus, namely plant-eating dinosaur with a strong leg and a tail like a wooden bat. Ankylosaurus was thought to have found a length of 5 meters wide and 2 meters. "Simply amazing because the fossil is still in good condition. It is also a complete dinosaur fossil was first owned by the province," said Donald.

A worker found the fossil itusaat Suncor Energy itself was clean soil before work. He immediately stopped his work and providing opportunities for scientists to move the bone, and sends it to the Royal Tyrell Museum. Last important fossils found in northern Alberta is the giant reptiles called ichthyosaurs. The fossil was found near Fort McMurray, 10 years ago.

New Animal Species Found In The Sea

Scientists from Florida said that they had discovered a new animal species in the Gulf of Mexico, the United States. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission announced that they had found Chromodoris Fentoni, a type of sea snail without a shell is commonly referred to as'nudibranch'.

Biologists find these animals after a fisherman donated specimens from the Gulf of Tarpon Springs to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Wildlife Research Institute in St. Petersburg in 2009. Sea slug 'nudibranch' have gills and have no shell.

Sample findings Fentoni Chromodoris directly sent to the California State Polytechnic University, where verification of these animals ever documented. A curator of the Wildlife Research Institute says it's very difficult to find a species new to science.

The Discovery of Dinosaur Fossils Single Fingered

A fossil dinosaur with a single finger and big claws on each hand are found in China. The scientists claim, the fossil is a species Linhenykus monodactylus. Linhenykus monodactylus including alvarezsuroids group, which is a branch of the theropod family who ate meat. Higher animals only reach two feet and weigh as well as a large parrot.

Different from other theropod family, such as Tyrannosaurus rex and Velocireptor, Linhenykus only have one finger on each hand, has large paws. Scientists from University College London, Michael Pittman, explains, "theropod that do not have the character of birds originally had five fingers, but then evolved into just three fingers."

"Tyrannosaurus was also quite strange because it only has two fingers but Linhenykus that have only one finger to show how the complexity of the modification of the theropod hand,"said Michael Pittman. Some Linhenykus framework, the estimated age of 75 to 84 million years old, found near the town of Linhe, Mongolia.

According to Dr Jonah Choiniere of the American Museum of National History, "Degeneration of the structure, such as legs on whales and snakes, can appear and disappear randomly in the process of evolution." Linhenykus coexist with other theropod families who have similar size, as well as small mammals and lizards.

The Rats Are Able to Sing Like a Bird

A team of researchers from the University of Osaka have created a different animal in Evolved Mouse Project.  The scientists have successfully created a mouse that is able to sing like a bird. They used mice that have children are genetically engineered and potentially mutate. "Mutations are the driving force of evolution. We have made crosses of genetically engineered mice for several generations to see what would happen next," said lead researcher, Arikuni Uchimura.

"We examine the new-born rats one by one. One day we found a mouse that sings like a bird," he said. Uchimura confirm if the rats 'singing' was born after genetic engineering and the character will be forwarded to them in future generations. The scientists claim to be surprised with this result, they expect the birth of mice that differ in physical form.

Research center headed by Takeshi Yagi, professor at the University of Osaka, claimed to have had more than 100 'mice sing' which will be empowered to further research. The research team hopes they can get clues about how human language evolved so that they can understand the origin of human language.

The scientists also found that the bird was using a different sound elements, just like human languages vary with the particular linguistic rules. "For the study, subjects are better than mice because they are mammals, birds and closer to humans, related to the structure of the brain and other biological aspects," Uchimura said.

"We see how the new mouse that emit sound will affect the normal mice in the same category. In other words if it has a social connotation," he said, adding that ordinary mice squeak because of stress.

700 Pigeons Still Mysterious Death

Mysterious mass death of animals continues on Friday, January 7, 2011 when Italy, as about 700 pigeons mysteriously falls from the sky city of Faenza, province of Ravenna, Italy. Birds commonly seen in the town of Faenza lot, now just a pile of corpses.

The cause of the mysterious mass death was investigated, a local scientist named Dr. Frasnelli, said that it would conduct tests toxins and disease in birds. Before this incident, there was the death of 1000 fish in the river Arkansas, 40,000 crabs in the UK, and many more. Some theories about the mass death of animals recently stuck around fireworks, stress, disease and natural factors. Even some parties claim that this mass death is one of the signs of the apocalypse.

Injured Woman was Attacked by a Barracuda Fish

A barracuda fish jumps out of the water and attacked a player like women's boat in the Florida Keys, Miami, USA. Barracuda fish attack not only shocked the players kayak boat, but they were also wounded, and brought in helicopters to evacuate the players from the boat, and taken to hospital U.S. Cost Guard.

The attack was not kidding, cause sores in the lungs and ribs to be broken. The victim told the fish, barracuda fish that attacked quite large and previously seen swimming-pool in the vicinity of their kayak. Great barracuda fish that attacked 45-year-old woman was right about the chest that resulted in injury.

"The poor woman was seriously wounded in the chest, but still conscious," said a rescuer, Captain Kevin Freestone. Headquarters U.S. coast supervisor immediately sent a small boat. However, because the waters are very shallow scene of the accident, the ship was unable to reach it. Then a helicopter brought in fish and bring victims to the hospital. Barracuda fish is known to have sharp teeth and big.

Global Warming Increasing Body Weight Guinea Pigs

Impact of global warming turns out not only disturb the human life course, animals also joined the global warming affected by this. One of these animals are guinea pigs. Yes, global warming caused by the heating of fat from the previous experience. From the research group of scientists in Colorado discovered that guinea pigs became more body fat because of climate change.

Warmer temperatures seem to make guinea pigs more quickly wake up from hibernation period and more eating. Guinea pigs became one of the few animals that can benefit from increasing global temperatures. However, the guinea pigs were active between four to five months a year. The existence of an extra month to make up their period increased by 20 percent. In the end, guinea pigs population becomes uncontrollable.

It also makes an extra month they are also getting more calories and make them survive longer in the dry spring. In the end, when they go into hibernation period, namely in September, had more body fat guinea pigs. Scientists noted that guinea pigs have been around 1,190 increased the average body weight of 6.8 pounds.

Breeding Black Tiger Shrimp

To meet the requirement of shrimp consumption increased, the scientists develop genetically shrimp for this type of Black Tiger Shrimp. After research and breeding for 10 years, scientists from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) finally succeeded in developing a tiger prawn that will reduce the import of the most popular seafood in Australia.

"The shrimp reproduce it will increase the capacity of shrimp harvested in Australia from approximately 5 tons per hectare to approximately 17.5 tons per hectare. Of course this will eliminate the dependence on imports of shrimp that dominate 50 percent of the seafood market in Australia, particularly import through China and Vietnam, "said the CSIRO was represented by Director of Development The Future of Food, Bruce Lee.

Tiger shrimp were raised in ponds with high levels of salt is enough and closed-loop system. Shrimp were also fed only wheat flour mixed with fish food."There are several advantages of this breeding result, we no longer need to take the shrimp nets from the sea," said Lee. CSIRO say, hypothetically, this tiger shrimp production will be increased to 12,500 tonnes from 5,000 tonnes per year, or add revenues of about 120 million Australian dollars until the year 2020. By the way of shrimp, I love to eat shrimp, and what about you?

Duck Eggs which Have a Stalk

Egg is not a strange thing for us, and certainly as one of the favorites menu. Not only that egg shells are also useful for the craftsmen to produce various kinds of handicrafts. However, what if the egg-stemmed? This is a natural phenomenon that surprising society in the town of Meulaboh, West Aceh-Indonesia, which found an egg that has a stalk.

Eggs which have a stalk was found in duck cage misconstrued one house in the town of Meulaboh, the shape of a duck egg has a stalk, which came out of a male duck. The owner was shocked when I saw the duck eggs that are released by a male duck has a stalk, and this is a strange occurrence that had never happened on his duck. To this day many people who come to see the egg. Even some people who want to buy eggs and the male duck.

Cobra Lost in Respect 100,000 Euros

Carelessness that should be paid handsomely. Authorities in the city of Muelheim, Germany, spent a fee of 100,000 euros to find the missing snake. When found one, the snake was dead. "We must do whatever it takes to find the cobra," said Volkter Wiebels, a spokesman at the local mayor's office.

After a venomous cobra escaped from its cage in March, members of the fire department searched the entire apartment. They also move the furniture and various kinds of snakes are combing the apartment owners. Not only that, they also closed all the roads that may be passed by the cobra.

Finally, after searching for several weeks, the snake was found dead on the roof of the apartment owner. Operating costs for the search snake reaches 100,000 euros. Apparently the cost of 40,000 euros will be taken from city tax funds because of the loose snakes are considered dangerous to public safety.

The rest must be borne by the owner of the snake. The owner of the snake was still aged 19 years and have bought the snake with just 70 euros. Also unclear whether the snake owners will pay some costs will be because now he does not have a job.

Killer Whales Have Been Killed a Sea World Trainer

A killer whale grabbed a trainer who was on the edge of the pond. That the whale uses its jaws and carried the woman trainer in the water. The incident was a shock all the spectators who were watching that attraction. The trainer was killed instantly in front of the spectators who witnessed the action with a sense of fear. The audience poured out of the stadium SeaWorld, and part of the playground was finally closed.

Trainer Dawn Brancheau, 40 years old, at that time was rubbing Tilikum body, killer whales, with 12 thousand pounds of weight, in the afternoon show. "But suddenly pulled the whale and brought it into the water," said Head trainer Chuck Tompkins. SeaWorld officials say that the trainer was killed by drowning. A spectator who witnessed the incident, Eldon Skaggs, Brancheau said that interactions with these whales initially appeared calm and relaxed.

"But suddenly pulled the whale and took a swim," he said. The alarm finally sounded and the workers brought the spectators out of stadiums. "At the beginning of the whale did not respond to the trainer's command, even the whale is acting like a stubborn child," Skaggs added. Of the event, the trainers are prohibited to be in the water with Tilikum. Approximately 29 trainers who have at SeaWorld, only 12 trainers are working to take care Tilikum.

Brancheau is a seasoned trainer among others, her also understood the character of the whale's 30-year-old. With this event, making the third time to kill a whale trainer. SeaWorld spokeswoman said that Tilikum is the third whale to kill his trainer. The first incident taking place in England in 1991.

Chicken Egg Size Six Times Larger than Normal

A couple in England, Mark Cornish (36 years) and Denise Bartram (42 years), shocked to find chicken, Matilda, has egg size six times larger than normal eggs. The chicken actually has four eggs, but eggs that one does look different from the others. Weighed approximately 4.2 ounces, and reach 8 inches in diameter.

Cornish said that normally the size of chicken eggs with approximately 0.7 ounces with a diameter of only 5.5 inches. "Many people who consider it as a goose egg, because the large size," he said. Cornish added that he would try to put it into the record books.
